First Visit to the Ob
This morning when I called to set up my first prenatal appointment, I was pretty disappointed to learn that my normal gynecologist, who serves as obstetrician for several of my friends, was not taking any more ob patients. I settled for the next available appointment which isn't until Thursday, August 7th with Dr. Jacque LaBarre. I've never had a male Ob/Gyn, but I'm sure he's capable. Because I developed a rash last Wednesday on my chest and back that has not subsided, his office said I could come in this morning at 11am and he would take a look.
Dr. LaBarre seems very nice and made me feel comfortable. It wasn't my first official prenatal visit, because we mainly focused on the rash, but we did talk about when the due date might be. According to my last period (June 5th), my due date is March 12th. However, I had tracked my cycles since Andrew and I agreed it was time to stop taking birth control at the end of April and my cycles are 44 days long! I also charted my basal body temperature, so it seems that conception might have been July 6th or 7th (Happy Anniversary Jennifer and Nathan!). That would make the due date March 30th. Regardless, I kept my appointment for next Thursday where I'll have an ultrasound and hopefully there will be something there enough to determine a more accurate due date. I had some blood drawn to check my progesterone levels and get a better idea of how far along I am.
I had some cramps last week, but other than that, no obvious symptoms. I hope it's the real thing and sticks!

Finally, A Positive Positive
Three months, Three negative home pregnancy tests, six negative ovulation predictor tests, one positive uti test, and one positive ovulation predictor test later...a positive home pregnancy test! Not fifteen minutes after entering our house upon returning from family vacation in Ohio and Washington, we got to read the word "pregnant" and more importantly, the word "not" was vacant from the display window! Yay! We're estimating about 5 weeks right now.
Pre-pregnancy/pre-vacation weight = 117 lbs.
Today's weight = 118.5 lbs.
