John's Graduation Party

My cousin, John, graduated from high school this past Friday, so we went to a reception in his honor today. We had a great time even though Claire was without a nap. Hence the passed out photo at the end of this post. She was out cold on the drive home. (We obviously need to tighten her shoulder straps again because she seems to work her way out of them which is not very safe.)

20 Weeks....Halfway

I don't remember Claire moving around this much so soon, but I LOVE it! It might have something to do with the Ben and Jerry's ice cream that I've been consuming every night, but it appears that the ice cream was necessary since I didn't gain any weight this week. No reason to stop eating Ben and Jerry's now.

A Little Under the Weather

Claire woke up coughing a couple of times last night, so she isn't feeling her best today, but is up for enjoying beautiful weather. We're experimenting with potty-training a little today. She has been sitting on the potty since January (at her request) several times a day, but she has never actually used it. With a 3-day weekend, we're going to see what we can accomplish. If it doesn't work, we'll just wait and try again later.

Last night, Andrew felt Paige kick for the first time. She was so active all last night and for a good part of this morning. I can already tell that Paige will be a mover and a shaker just like her big sister.

19 Weeks

This week the exhaustion seemed to be at its worst. I can't really say that it's because I'm chasing after a 2 year old either. Andrew is more than amazing when it comes to taking over all parental duties, so that I can rest. I have four students that began summer research with me which requires a lot of hands-on help and going up and down steps. I'm also walking Claire to daycare again in the morning in addition to my evening walk with Molly. I've had a little more nausea from time to time this past week, but nothing too bad. This baby is quite active now moving frequently everyday. Tomorrow is the big day when we go for an ultrasound. Andrew is guessing the baby is a boy and my final guess is a girl. Hopefully, we'll see.

This afternoon when I was getting ready to leave to get my hair cut, we asked Claire if she wanted to kiss the baby (meaning my belly). She didn't show an interest until Andrew kissed my belly. Then she asked me to kiss her belly (which I did) and then she wanted to kiss my belly. So, there was a lot of kissing going on and a lot of "love you, Momma. Love you, Daddy. Love you, baby" which was adorable.

Time for a Change...

I woke up yesterday with a very strong desire to get my hair cut....so I did. I had the same urge when I was pregnant with Claire. They cut off around 8 inches. Here is a before and after shot of the back of my hair. The length is a little tough to tell because it's curly, but it isn't tough to tell my hair was cut.

18 Weeks

I'm still trying to catch up on rest, but other than being a little tired I feel good. The baby is moving around a lot more each day. I managed okay with our 16 hours of driving in two days, Friday and Saturday. I guess I did some long drives while pregnant with Claire, too. Even with a blog it's easy to forget the details. I'm really looking forward to the ultrasound next week. Andrew and I have opposite guesses as to the gender of Baby #2, but as he says, I change my mind almost everyday.

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Andrew turned 32 years old today! He ate his birthday breakfast at Elmo's Diner in Chapel Hill, NC, his birthday lunch at a Taco Bell in Canton, NC, and his birthday dinner at Papa Leno's in Berea, KY. We took a quick overnight trip to Chapel Hill, NC yesterday to take a student there for summer research. Claire stayed with my mom and Andrew and I had a wonderful, although short, visit to UNC. That was the first time we had been there since we graduated. Chapel Hill will always be special to us since we met and married there.

Here are a few pictures from our day.
