Visit to Danville

Some of these photos are a little blurry, but I couldn't help but to post them.

Youngest Person with a Hernia

Claire has a burning desire to pick up heavy objects. Right now she can either pick up 3 lbs. in each hand, or 5 lbs. with both. We don't encourage this, but I think that's why she likes it.

Visit with my Dad and Step-Mom

My dad and step-mom came to visit this evening. We had a delicious dinner at Boone Tavern.

Sandy did a beautiful pencil drawing of Molly for us.
Prior to dinner Claire enjoyed rolling around in Molly's bed. This girl really needs a bean bag chair.

She also practiced a little more walking with Daddy.

16 Months Old

Claire turned 16 months old today. I find it very hard to believe. She is growing so fast. She does have some frequently used, discernable words. We have deemed her first official word to be "kitty" which is very amusing since she never owned (or saw many cats) prior to moving into our house when she was one year old, but has been a dog owner since birth. She has been fascinated by her new cat since day one. Claire "speaks" to the cat every time we see him and is very quick to point out the kitties in books. Her second word is "shoe." There are some other words that she repeats; such as "hi" and "cracker," but they have not been used on a regular basis.

I should have some photos later this evening as my dad and step-mom will be visiting, but I wanted to be sure and get a post up earlier, so I won't forget.

Happy 2nd Birthday, Alexandra!

My niece, Alexandra, will turn 2 years old on the 15th, but we celebrated the wonderful occasion today.
Notice the photo displayed on the centerpiece. I took that at her first birthday and titled it, "It's my party and I'll cry if I want to." No tears this year.

Claire loved playing with Alexandra's tea set. We had never seen her play pretend like that before.

Wesley, Julie, Andrew, and occasionally Alexandra or Claire played Chutes and Ladders.

Sick Sweetie

Claire had a mild fever all day yesterday. She wasn't interested in eating, but stayed hydrated. She was only content in our arms. When she woke up this morning and her fever was worse, we began to worry. We took her to the doctor for the first time ever (not including wellness visits) to find out she had an infection in both ears. Only hours after her first dose of antibiotics, she is very close to her normal self. It was heartbreaking how miserable she was. I'm happy to see her laughing and playing again.

Happy 4th of July!

We had some friends, Shane, Adanma, Mark, and Carrie, over for dinner to celebrate the 4th.

These photos were taken before church. Claire's mardi gras beads completed the red, white, and blue ensemble.

Saturday Morning

Now that we moved the blankets off of the steps, Claire just likes to sit on the top step and kick her feet around.
