4 Month Check-Up

Claire had her 4 month check up today. She weighed in at 12 lbs. 12 oz. which is only in the 30th percentile. The doctor said not to worry that because she sleeps 10-11 hours at night, she isn't going hungry. Her length is still in the 90th percentile at 25.5 inches. She is coming right along and is healthy and happy.

Molly joined Claire and me in some tummy time.

4 Months Old!

Claire is four months old today. We'll feed her rice cereal for the first time tonight, but I wanted to post a video of her enjoying her jumperoo in the meantime. Enjoy!

Meeting Bop

Claire met her grandfather, Bop, and step-grandmother, Sandy, on Sunday. She was very good for the visit and slept most of the time.

Molly made a new best friend.

Claire is very intrigued by her hands lately and loves to stretch her arm out and stare at her hand.

Finding Her Feet

Claire has been grabbing a lot with her hands the past few days. It's super cute when she grabs her feet. It does make diaper changing a little more challenging though.

She also grabs her bottle, so Andrew lets her hold it for as long as she can.

Check out these smiles.

"Daddy's Scratchy Face"

Claire has an interactive book called "Pat the Bunny." In it, Paul and Judy smell flowers, read books, and "feel Daddy's scratchy face" which has an illustration of a man with part of his beard replaced with sand paper. We let Claire try the real thing with Andrew's beard and she LOVES it. She laughs the entire time.

She also really likes to be in the action. Yesterday, she was not content on the blanketed floor, so we propped her up between us cushioned by the Boppy which made her very happy.

I can't help but to take photos of her sleeping. I find it adorable every time.

Our Little Flapper Girl

Mardi Gras beads make for a great flapper costume.

It was a long day.

The new Rain Forest Jumperoo is a hit.

Alexandra's First Birthday

Alexandra will turn 1 year old on July 15th, but we celebrated her first birthday yesterday. There was a ladybug theme and delicious cake and ice cream. Chris' mom, sister, sister's boyfriend, and grandmother were there as well as my mom.

The Lewis family in the middle of opening presents.

We tried to get a photo of Wesley, Alex, and Claire on my grandmother's couch together because my brothers, sister, cousins and I used to line up on that very same couch for a "cousins" photo when we were young. It's very difficult to get a 3.5 month old, 1 and 3.5 year old to hold still, not cry, and look at the camera. Here are my best shots.

Wesley picked up on how to use the blowers pretty quickly and loved it.

Natural Bridge State Park

Andrew, Claire and I visited one of Kentucky's state parks yesterday, Natural Bridge. It was a very beautiful area that I had never been to and Andrew and I are taking advantage of our time off to explore those parts of Kentucky. Here are some photos from our trip. (Claire is wearing socks to stop her from scratching some mosquito bites on her foot.)

We did as the Easterbrooks women do and "packed a lunch" for the hike. Even Claire had a packed lunch.

Some parts of the trail were very narrow.

Great Grannie, Plymouth Rock, and Teething

Claire and her Great Grannie (GG).

Andrew, Claire and I just returned the past weekend from his family vacation in Plymouth, MA. Claire did amazingly well on her first plane ride and slept nearly the entire time. We flew to Boston and stayed with Andrew's Aunt Ann and Uncle Doug. Grannie, Andrew's grandmother, had already arrived and met her first great-grandchild at the airport.

GG, Andrew's cousin, Olivia, Aunt Ann, and Uncle Doug meeting Claire.

Andrew's cousin, Evan, holds Claire for the first time.

Claire's many faces.

The rest of Andrew's family arrived a couple of days later and we headed out to Plymouth. The house we stayed in was gorgeous and had an amazing view of the Atlantic.

Sporting her cool weather clothes.

Posing in front of Plymouth Rock. (It was much smaller than we had expected.)

While this is only a replica of the Mayflower, it too was smaller than we had expected, but neat all the same.

The Garrett/Gorham clan made dinner one night of Louisiana/Kentucky cuisine complete with King Cake below.

First trip to the beach.

Claire seemed to enjoy her feet in the sand and ocean.

After our family photos, the "kitchen crew" (shown above) prepared dinner.

Claire took some time to stop and smell the roses. (Photos taken by Olivia.)

We had a wonderful time. Thank you to Aunt Ann and Uncle Doug for the planning and successful family vacation. When we returned from our trip we noticed Claire had a tooth poking through her gums. Teething at 3 months!?!
