Mountain Day
Berea College celebrates the first Wednesday of October as Mountain Day. Classes are canceled and several events including meals, hikes, games and music are organized only 2 miles down the road from campus at Indian Fort Mountain (or "the Pinnacles" to locals). This is one of my favorite holidays. It's great to get the students and community out to the Mountain to take in our beautiful surroundings. I love the view from the mountain tops. It gives me a refreshed feeling and makes me so happy to be alive. For this Mountain Day, I may just be taking it easy at home though. This time tomorrow (at 39 weeks exactly) I will be the mother of two wonderful daughters. I am so excited to welcome another child into this world, but a little anxious about the surgery. Not that I haven't been through a few other surgeries, but that doesn't really make them that much easier. Tonight my mom and sister will come over and spend the night. Andrew and I have to be at the hospital at 6am tomorrow (Pattie A. Clay Hospital in Richmond, KY, only 10 min. down the interstate), so they will drop Claire off at daycare tomorrow before heading to the hospital. The surgery isn't scheduled until 8am (EST), so that means 5am for our PST family. They said my recovery time will be at least an hour, but we will update everyone as soon as we can.

Latest Doctor's Appointment
My appointment went very well this morning. It doesn't appear that Paige will arrive earlier than the c-section (according to my internal exam), but the c-section has been moved to Thursday due to a change in doctors, so it looks like October 6th will be the big day! I'm feeling good. My cold is almost gone and my rash no longer itches and is slowly fading. My feet are back to their normal pre-pregnancy size which is a relief. I'm ready to hold my baby!

38 Weeks
Well, as I've posted already, this past week has been rough with the poison ivy, serious acid reflux, and to top it off, I've caught the cold that Andrew and Claire both had. I haven't gotten as much sleep as I'd like due to itching, reflux, and now not being able to breathe through my nose, but emotionally I'm feeling great and excited. In terms of work, I am in the perfect place to have a baby. I submitted my grant proposal on Thursday, I am completely caught up on grading, recommendation letters, and student research poster edits. The first floor of our house is freshly painted an looks great! I'm ready to have this baby! Today is the first day of October and what a beautiful, cool-weathered fall day we're having. I love it! I went on a nice two hour walk this morning and really enjoyed getting out again. My belly remained tight during the whole walk and mildly uncomfortable, but I don't think Paige is going to arrive today. I'll keep you posted.
Last night Andrew and I spent a relaxing evening watching a movie at home knowing it would be our last quiet Friday evening for a while. I don't have any plans for the weekend except to enjoy my family when I have the energy and take naps when I don't. Yay, autumn!
